Membership

I am certain that at some point in our lives we have had a membership to something, whether it be a club, a fitness center, an online shopping company, we have all paid to become a member of some institution. When we bought the membership we probably found out about all the perks once joining. After all, who doesn’t want to take full advantage of what we are paying for. So why do we often sell ourselves short in taking advantage of the perks when we join the Kingdom of God? When we say yes to Jesus and become born again, we are a new creation and are now born of the Spirit (2 Cor 5:17, John 3:5-7). So why don’t we take advantage of all the Kingdom has to offer? Not only are we members of God’s kingdom but the bible says we are His offspring (Acts 17:29). Knowing that we are children of the Most High God, its imperative that we find out all the benefits of having a Heavenly Father. Thankfully we have His holy word that details all of our rights as His children.

Benefits

Thankfully in God’s kingdom there are no levels. Everyone has access to the same benefits, there is no gold or platinum level, and the best part is, its free. We don’t have to pay a thing for membership in God’s kingdom. So what are some of the benefits of being a child of God? I will list a few below, but I encourage you to research all the benefits that Christ paid for and gave to you.

Assurance: Romans 8:16

Health: 3 John 1:2

Relationship/Intimacy: Rom 8:15, Isaiah 41:10

Discipline: Heb 12, Ps 94:12

Security: Ps 91, Rom 8:38

These are just a few of the many benefits of membership in God’s family. I believe we often fall short in partaking in the full inheritance because we didn’t pay for the membership. We often want children to pay for things so they treat it better and understand the cost of something, and since we didn’t pay the enormous expense to join God’s kingdom, we often take it for granted. I know for myself, I fall short of being all that I was designed to be, sometimes willfully sinning just to gratify my flesh, even when I know it is wrong. My prayer for all of us is that if we are not willing to take full advantage of all the benefits for ourselves, we should do it for the one who paid for our membership in full. Jesus left His heavenly throne and humbled Himself to death on the cross, so He is so worthy of us doing all we can to be all we were made to be.

In closing, we know all the benefits of being His son or daughter, now we must tell others just how awesome it is.
