Too Proud To Sin

Spiritual growth

I know, it is a pretty contradictory ideal from a Christian perspective.   The bible says that pride IS sin.   What I am talking about are the people (used to be one) who attend church, go to bible study and tithe, etc.  Some of them do it not to please the Lord or live a righteous life.  But to appear that way in the assembly.  I mean, nobody wants to be seen as a sinner, a non-tither, or someone with a “foot in the world.”  So we end up putting on a show to see like we are right where God wants us to be and have no particular struggle with our flesh.  We volunteer, teach bible studies and bring baked goods all so we can feel good about who we are.  Showing the church that we are just like Christ.  WE wouldn’t let sin in, we are too proud for that!  How could we get labeled as someone who doesn’t believe in tithing, or is late to church and does not go to “prayer night.”  We are big wigs in the kingdom of God!!  WEEEE don’t sin!

Obviously there is a conflict this thinking.  So I ask you, why are you “obeying” the Word of the Lord?  Are you really interested in righteousness or just pretending so the church honors you?  Only the first one will bring the real fruit of the Spirit and the blessings of the His Kingdom.  Please be real with the Lord and let Him show you your faults. So He can build you into a mighty person of honor and a light unto many.

Psalm 119.

You pose a good question here. There a lot of people who go to church just “for show” or to try and prove something to others and that is very unfortunate. The only person we should be looking to please is God. 🙂

It would be good for us to remember “God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble”! Good post!

You hit the nail on the head with regard to the fruit of the spirit. If we’re one of His trees, we oughta be bearing some edible fruit!
