When you talk to most believers they have a hard time really (truly) explaining how God knows everything. They understand what prophecy is and what it does but they really do not understand how God knows these things. They usually say that He knows all because He transcends time and He is able to go ahead (into the future) and see what takes place…. Well let’s think about that for a moment. Does God really need to “look ahead?” Are there really any surprises with God? Does He “know all” or does He have to peek into the future to find out? God is omniscient (all knowing) He knows everything because He wrote everything. In essence He has written a book and is now watching it take place. Here is a little deeper explanation of it.
I believe that all things have been written and God did not have to look ahead to see the outcome. He knows all. He is the author and finisher of our faith and He is the beginning and the end (Heb 12:2, Rev 1:8).
He knows “all” because He wrote it.
God is at rest because He has confidence in His word. He knows it will accomplish what He pleases (Is 55:11).
The world was framed by His word (Heb 11:3).
We enter His rest when we see the word as it is (Heb 4:3).
God created good works for us beforehand, that we should walk in them (Eph 2:10).

Well said! What some fail to grasp is that in the pro (before)- vision, God has also figured in to His novel, the free will choices of each & every individual! YES, this goes beyond human apprehension! But that is the great joy to those of us who follow Him and those who have yet to receive the greatest gift ever given! We are not yet without sin, but we are forgiven as we brings our failures to the throne of grace. He is never surprised, however! Never!

God is the Alpha and the Omega. He always was and always is and always will be. For God, time is not linear; therefore he knows everything because he was always there.
One of the mysteries of God is that he knows our entire lives and whether or not we’ll get to heaven, but at the same time, if God already knows where we’re going, why does he make himself accessible to us through prayer and reconciliation? Why would he bother sending his son to save us if he knew already which of us would be saved?
That’s something that always confuses me… the concept of free will versus the concept of God knowing all. I can’t even explain it adequately.

Hi Maggie, I believe that God has a perfect and personal plan for each of us. Now this plan is not so specific that He has our clothes picked out every day and what we will eat but more-where we will be living and what we will be doing (Acts 17:26). He also has certain circumstances lined lined up for us to meet people or be in the right place at right time etc.
I think the best answer might be. He is God. He created us for His own pleasure.
God is fair and just and I believe the ones who end up going to hell, never belonged to the Lord in the first place (Matt 13:24-30).
